Why choose shaker?
The shaker door is a five-piece frame around a flat centre panel, and that simple construction is why it never dates. It carries paint beautifully, sits as happily in a cottage as in a new build, and gives a kitchen structure without decoration doing the work.
Ours are made in our own West Midlands factory, which means in-frame options, painted finishes in dozens of colours, and cabinets built to your walls rather than to a standard box.

A shaker kitchen in a real home
This Kensington went into a 1930s semi with an awkward chimney breast and a north-facing window. The frame-and-panel doors carry the room's period character, while deep pan drawers and a larder built around the chimney do the practical work.
It was designed at our Oldswinford showroom, made in the factory a few miles away, and fitted by one of our own installation teams over four days.

Your questions answered
Are shaker kitchens more expensive than slab-door kitchens?
Usually a little, because a five-piece door takes more making than a flat panel, though the difference is smaller than most people expect since both come out of the same factory. Your designer will price both against your layout so you can compare properly.
Can I repaint a shaker kitchen later?
Painted shaker doors can be professionally refinished, which is one of the reasons the style lasts so well. If you think you'll want a colour change down the line, tell your designer, and they'll steer you to the finishes that take it best.
